Elida Longoria

Elida Longoria 98, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023 in San Benito, Texas.  Elida was born to the late Abelardo and Sara Garcia.

She was a member of Iglesia Presbiteriana Getsemaní of San Benito.

In her leisure time, Elida enjoyed reading the Bible and singing church hymns.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio Longoria; son, Heberto Longoria; parents, Abelardo and Sara Garcia; brothers Moises Garcia, Josue Garcia, Rosendo Garcia, Humberto Garcia; sisters, Lidia Galindo and Irma Garcia; and sons-in-law, Bob Castle and Arnold Mercado.

Left to treasure Elida’s memory are her children Graciela Mercado, Dora Longoria, Eliezer Longoria, Oralia (Teodoro) Garza, Eduardo (Maura) Longoria, Belia Castle, Obed (Rosemary) Longoria; 11 grandsons, 14 granddaughters; 22 great grandsons, 28 great granddaughters, 16 great-great grandsons, 10 great-great granddaughters; siblings Ruben (Lupita) Garcia, Abelardo (Hilda) Garcia Jr., Marta Contreras, Ramiro (Celeste) Garcia; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Elida’s family wishes to thank Angel Wings Hospice, Dr. Martha Cano, Nurse Joe Castillo, Nurse Jessica Castillo, Nurse Nora Balderas, and Chaplain Oscar Quintana.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A prayer service will begin at 7 o’clock on Monday evening.  A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 9:45 a.m. Following the service, Elida will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ernesto Aguilera Jr., Robert Aguilera, Edgar Longoria, Arnold Andrade Jr., Felix Almaraz Jr., and Heberto Longoria.  Santana Alexander Anaya and Arnold Mercado Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearers.
