A strong woman whose life was devoted to loving her family. This is how those who knew her would describe Zona Mae Green. Zona passed away at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 27, 2017. She was born in Galena, Missouri to parents Porter Hadley Russell and Etta Mae Scates on July 10, 1949. She married the love of her life, James Green on October 23, 1987 and enjoyed 30 wonderful years by his side. She was a devoted mother and wife who poured her love and energy into her husband and children. She saw the good in everyone and was a beautiful role model.
Those who passed before her are her parents; siblings Larry Jones, Linda Weston and Bill Russell; and nephew Kevin Lewis.
Although she is gone from their lives, many special memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those surviving; her husband James Green; four children: Lori Ellison (Mike Stahn); Thomas (Jenny) Miner; Monica Dyer (Ryan Janssen); Jaime (Joe) Harvell. Twelve grandchildren: Brandon (Brittany) Ellison; Michael (Jacy) Bauer; Sarah and Dylan Miner; Kennedy, Karson and Kayden Dyer; Emily and Avery Janssen; Joe Jr., Selby and James Harvell. Three great-grandchildren: Chloe Ellison; Ronan and Emry Bauer; and several nieces and nephews.
A very special thank you to Dora Hilbery for whom she loved dearly.
Memorial services will be on Tuesday, May 30 at 2:00p.m. at First United Methodist Church in La Feria will burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made in her honor to Shriner’s Hospitals or St. Jude’s.
