Harlingen:
Zelma Tallant, 92, passed from this life on Monday, December 22, 2008. She was born in Barker, Arkansas to Joseph and Mirtie Petitt on February 25, 1916
Zelma was married to Jack Tallant for over fifty years. She owned the Arroyo Café and was a nurse’s aid for twenty years at VBMC. Zelma was a good cook known for her cinnamon rolls. Her hands were always busy; she could sew, quilt and paint landscapes and florals.
Zelma is survived by her two daughters , Leoda Kilgore and Laverne Jarvis and her husband, Bert; two granddaughters, Kathy Williams and Angela Araiza; sisters, Evie McGehee, Opal Brister, Fonetta Simmons and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, brothers Lonnie, Leonard, Evirt, Dirl, and Earl, sisters, Gertie, Emma and Valeta.
Visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 23, 2008.
Graveside services only will be held at the Rio Hondo City Cemetery, 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 24, 2008 with the Rev. Wade Peyton officiating.
The family request that those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the First Assembly of God Church, 1021 E. Madison, St., Harlingen, Texas 78550.
