Ingram/San Benito, TX:
Wm. David Heavin, 61, passed away on July 6, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen surrounded by his family.
David was born April 12, 1949 in Houston, Texas to William H. and Doris J. Heavin. He graduated from Cypress Fairbanks High School in Houston and attended the University of Houston. Always the consummate entrepreneur, David owned an Iron Ore business and was a certified Indian Reservation trader. His passion with fitness led to opening a number of fitness centers including Woman’s World. David was known as the “Gizmo Guru” of promotional products as the owner of Ideas in Action. He and Glenna retired in 2008 to their beloved ranch in the Texas Hill Country, where he became a gentleman farmer. David’s desire to give back is best represented by gifts toward the Doris Joy Heavin Professional Building at VBMC and the Heavin Resaca Trail Park project of San Benito. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of San Benito. Many of David’s passions were business, investments, gardening, his “Bad Boy” Harley motorcycle, but above all, his family. David was preceded in death by both parents and his brother, Paul W. Heavin.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Glenna; his sons, Bill (Amy) Heavin of Trophy Club, TX, Chris Heavin of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Nicole Heavin of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Trey and Rylan Heavin of Trophy Club, TX; sister, Linda (Jim) Britton of Temple, TX; and brothers, Gary (Diane) Heavin of Gatesville, TX and Will (Cindy) Heavin of Corpus Christi, TX. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Gladys White of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews.
