Wilma “Sis” Wones Brotzman, 74, died May 12, 2010, at Matagorda House Healthcare Center in Bay City, Texas.
Born July 30, 1935, in Saratoga, Texas, Sis went through the Beaumont school system and graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1957 (Texas State College for Women while she attended). After graduation, Sis was hired to teach in the Rio Hondo school system, and moved to Rio Hondo, where she met Lloyd G. Brotzman; they married on December 27, 1958.
Sis worked as a physical education instructor and girls’ athletics coach in the Rio Hondo and Harlingen school systems for over 20 years, and in retirement played and taught competitive tennis, and enjoyed golfing with friends and family.
Sis is survived by her sister, Nancy Wones Eldridge, son Curtis Lloyd Brotzman, daughter Tammerie Brotzman Day, granddaughters Courtney Erin Brotzman and Harper Belle Spires, and grandsons Duncan Curtis Brotzman and Chandler Bradley Spires.
Sis was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd G. Brotzman, and her brother, John L. Wones.
A memorial service will be held for Sis at the Rio Hondo Baptist Church at 11:00 am on May 20, 2010.
