William Ross Sandlin, Sr.
January 17, 1938 – January 2, 2015
Harlingen:
William Ross Sandlin, beloved friend, father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, flew away to his home on high Friday evening January 2nd at Valley Regional Medical Center, Brownsville.
Preceded in death by his father, R.F. (Friday) Sandlin, mother Mabel, (nee Weeks) and brother Donald Jack Sandlin and brother-in-laws Coleman Davenport and William Timberlake.
Survived by his wife Ava, his son Johnny Wilson, granddaughters Myra and Rachel, great-grandson Conrad, his son William Ross Sandlin Jr. (Niobe) their children Nick, Paul, David, Caroline, and Jonathon; aunts Mabel Ussery of Corpus, and Jean & Bill Gierden of California; his siblings Marilyn Davenport (Bobby) of Uvalde, Sylvia Timberlake (Ed) of Hondo, Robert Ray Sandlin (Bonnie) of Richardson, Sister in Law Kay Sandlin of Seguin, and all their families.
Bill was a pilot, a crop duster, crane operator, gun enthusiast, motorcycle rider, nature lover, and tireless explorer of the back roads of Texas and Mexico. He was unfailingly kind and generous and never met an enemy. He appreciated the service of our military and mentioned them in every prayer.
We will miss him terribly, but have perfect assurance that he is resting in the Lord.
Visitation will be held Friday January 9th from 5 to 8 pm at La Feria Church of Christ, followed by memorial services at 2 pm Saturday January 10 also at La Feria Church of Christ.
