William Wayne Raney

La Feria, TX:
William Wayne Raney passed away on March 2, 2009 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen after a lengthy illness. Wayne was born in Clovis, NM on December 12th, 1943 to Chester Vernon Raney and Mary Thurman Raney and was a stepson to Edd Edmiston.  As a young boy he moved to Muleshoe, TX.
Wayne worked as a contractor for transmission power lines as a foreman thru out Texas and New Mexico.  In 1986 he met Patti Martinez and they were married and lived on the road for 1 ½ years until Wayne and Patti wanted to settle down back in the valley. Wayne Worked for Magic Valley Electric Co-op as a lineman then later as an inspector.
Wayne loved everyone no matter, what he loved life. In 1998 he had a liver transplant in Dallas, TX at Baylor Medical Center. He loved to team rope he said he wasn’t good but enjoyed it, and Patti did also.  He was a member of many trails riding clubs here in the valley.  Wayne will be remembered by many for his always smile.  He would say smile they don’t know what you’re thinking then.  Wayne never met a stranger and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, and sister Glenna Silger.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patti of La Feria, TX; his children: Chet and Leslie Raney of Woodard, OK, Pam and John Heisler of E. St. Louis, MO, Rick and Marli Raney of Clovis, NM; other family Johnny and Denise Raney of Ohama, NE.; sister, Joyce and Frank Olds of Cozad, NE; brother B. Lee Raney of Levelland, TX; numerous grandkids and 1 great grandkid.
A cowboy style memorial service will be held at the Double R Ranch in La Feria on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 3 p.m.
