William E Pietro

February 20, 1933 — October 23, 2015

Harlingen, TX:
William (Bill) Pietro, 82, joined his wife Betty and the Lord on Friday, October 23, 2015.
Bill was born in Worcester, Massachusetts to John and Mary Pietro.  Bill graduated with a BA from Brown University in 1956, and later with a MA from Kingsville A & I. Bill served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force for 3 years. The Air Force is what would bring him to Harlingen where he would meet the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Betty (McKeand) Pietro.
Other things that Bill was proud of included his three children and seven grandchildren. Daughter Liz Doty (Kevin), and grandchildren Kristopher Dylan and Danielle; Son Michael (Martha), grandchildren Kathryn (Justin), John, Peter, Janie; son Steve and granddaughter Hannah.
Bill was also proud to be Principal of Coakley for 19 years, receiving the 144th Point of Light for the children and the teachers of Coakley Junior High.  This was the 1,000 points of light under the first President George Bush.
Bill loved being a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, serving numerous years on the Harlingen School Board, traveling with his wife and family and telling stories. A favorite story was being a freshman on the varsity team of North High in Massachusetts and blocking the extra point that won the city championship. The most loving, generous family man that touched many lives, will now find peace as he joins his wife Betty.
Graveside services only will be conducted at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 4:00 pm, with Fr. Tom Pincelli officiating.
