William “Red” Kensinger was born on June 20, 1927 in Rogersville, Missouri. His family also called him “Skip”. He passed away at the age of 90 on February 18, 2018 at Retama Manor Nursing Center.
Red toured in the Navy during World War II on the Sea Fiddler and in the Korean War on USS Ajax. After the Navy, Red returned home to Missouri, where he lived on the family farm and was a construction manager. He enjoyed to cook and later in life ran a barbecue restaurant. He began traveling to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for the winter and eventually settled permanently there. He loved to eat and teach his grandchildren how to make biscuits and gravy.
Red was preceded in death by his parents Columbus “Lum” Kensinger and Lela Limbough Kensinger.
He is survived by his wife Sheris of 17 years, their 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
A graveside memorial and interment with military honors will be held at 10 am on April 28, 2018 at Rogersville Smith Cemetery, 6851 East Farm Road 186, Rogersville, Missouri.
