HARLINGEN:
William S. Holmer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went home to be with the Lord on October 30th. Bill was born in Milaca, MN on April 27, 1923 to Wm. and Edith Holmer.
After graduation from Milaca High School, he moved to Rockford, IL to work for Sundstrand Machine and Tool Co. He worked there for 44 years and became Supervisor of Mechanical Engineers.
He married Mildred Meckley on August 11, 1946, in Capron, IL. They have 3 children, Ronald (Elaine), Kim (Mitch) Tindel, and Lori Miles; 6 grandchildren, Jason Holmer, Leslie Colombo, Tracy Brookover, Kristyn Goold, Rebecca Holmer, and Sarah Miles, and 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt Brookover and Elyzabeth Goold. His 3rd great grandchild is due in February.
Bill, who is the oldest of 9 children, leaves behind brothers, and sisters, Ken, Jim, Robert, Larry, Joyce Miller, Marian Stromquist, Jane Johnson, and June Miller.
In 1989 Bill and Millie moved to Harlingen, TX to teach Round Dancing at Lakewood RV Park. Bill loved Round and Square dancing, card games, fishing, Cubs Baseball, Cowboys Football, gardening, and traveling, which included trips to England, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Alaska, Hawaii, many Islands, and Canada and Mexico.
A memorial service will be held at the Lakewood Village Hall in Harlingen at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 2nd.
