William N. Gautreau

William (Bill) N. Gautreau, of South Padre Island, formerly of McAllen, peacefully passed from this world on December 4, 2011. Bill passed in Houston, Texas due to complications after open heart surgery. In the final hours before his death, he was surrounded by members of his loving family.
Bill was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on September 4, 1953 to Normand and Claire Gautreau. He lived in Lynn until the age of 12, when the family moved to McAllen, Texas. This is where he later met and married the love of his life, his wife of more than 34 years, Pamela Gautreau.
Bill was a simple man with a kind and gentle spirit, often referred to by others as “one of a kind.” More than anything, he loved his family… and baseball.
Bill is survived by his wife Pamela, son Jacob Gautreau and wife Erin, daughter Jade Gautreau, son Samuel Gautreau, father Normand Gautreau and wife Irene, siblings Cynthia Cain and husband Dr. Roy Cain, Diane Donovan and husband Jay Donovan, Thomas Gautreau and wife Penny, five nephews, one niece, three great-nephews, and one great-niece. Bill was predeceased by his mother, Claire Gautreau.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home at 710 Ed Carey Drive in Harlingen, Texas. The family will be present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 705 South Longoria Street in Port Isabel, Texas officiated by Father Jim Erving.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Pallbearers include sons Jacob and Samuel Gautreau, brother Thomas Gautreau, nephew Joshua Cain, and dear friends Joe Longoria and Mario Flores. Honorary pallbearers include brother-in-laws Dr. Roy Cain and Jay Donovan and life-long friends Randy Ramirez and Tommy Gutierrez.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas in honor of Bill.
