William (Bill) Dougherty, 53, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Bill was born June 2, 1960 in Manhattan, NY to Dr. Joseph and Katherine Dougherty. He lived in Middletown, NY for many years and moved to Harlingen in 2005 where he had been an RN for the past 6 years at Valley Baptist Medical Center,
Bill had a passion for school, work and especially helping people. He obtained a BS Degree in Psychology, received his LVN Degree from Texas Southmost College in Brownsville in 2007 and obtained his MSN Degree in 2012 from the University of Texas at Brownsville, TX.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Dougherty of Burlington, MA; daughter, Kaitlyn Dougherty of Yonkers, NY; father, Dr. Joseph Dougherty; mother, Katherine Dougherty; sister, Suzanne Dougherty; brother, Timothy Dougherty; sister, Laura Dougherty; and nephew, Brian Arriola all of Harlingen, TX.
Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
The funeral procession will depart Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 9:30 AM, for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations may be made to Loaves & Fishes, 514 S. E Street, Harlingen, TX 78550 or charity of choice.
