William Laurence (Bill) Anderson has passed from his worldly life. He passed on 06/01/2017 in Harlingen, Texas. Bill was born on 12/30/1947 to G.C. “Andy” Anderson & Joyce Peavler Anderson. Bill grew up & lived in the Stuart Place area of Harlingen, Texas; attending Harlingen Public Schools and graduating from Harlingen High School in 1966. After attending Texas A&I college in Kingsville, Texas and deciding that college was not for him, Bill enlisted in the U. S. Navy. Upon being Honorably Discharged from the Navy, Bill returned ‘home’ to Harlingen where he worked in Institutional Food Sales & Food Brokerage for 6 ½ years, before going to work for the then Southwestern Bell Telephone Company doing work that he truly loved. Bill’s favorite pastimes were deer hunting and treasure hunting with his metal detector both of which he loved equally. Bill was currently living in Harlingen, Texas where he attended the ‘Spirit of Praise Church’ with pastor, Mike Sullivan.
Bill was preceded in death by both of his parents, G.C. “Andy” & Joyce Anderson; his ex-wife Donelle Means Anderson (who was the mother of his three children); and his brother-in-law Scott (Cathy) Gordon.
Bill is survived by his daughter Joanna Catherine (Cork) Cardona; his son James Michael Anderson; and his daughter Laura Marie Anderson all of the Corpus Christi, Texas area. He is additionally survived by his grandchildren Arroe Garcia & Maria Cardona; Jasmine Anderson; and Destiny Stesch, Alexa Anderson, & Jacob Guzman. He is also survived by his sisters Catherine Louise (Scott/deceased) Gordon of Seattle, Washington & Patricia Sue (Jack) Cooke of Harlingen, Texas; and nieces Sarah Catherine Cooke (Jeff) Wynn of Houston, Texas; Dana Catherine Gordon (Brian) Stork of Seattle, Washington; and Jennifer Lynn Cooke of Harlingen, Texas & numerous great nieces & nephews as well as numerous cousins from his father’s & mother’s siblings.
A graveside service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Chris Hall officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Bill, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association in his name.
