Wanda Jo Bell Kellam went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 7, 2010, in Harlingen,TX, after an extended illness.
She was born in Somerton, AZ, on Dec.16, 1922, to Joseph E. and Minnie N. Bell. Her parents, her sister, Ouida J. Beltz, and her loving husband of 47 years, Belo N. Kellam, Sr, preceded her in death.
Wanda had a zest for life that always kept her young at heart. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always enjoyed being with her family and was an avid bridge player most of her adult life.
Prior to her move to Harlingen, TX in 2006, she resided in San Antonio, TX for 25 years, and raised her family and lived in Robstown, TX for 33 years.
She is survived by her three loving children, sons Belo N. Kellam, Jr., of Naples, FL., and Edwin E. Kellam (and wife, Monna) of Harlingen, TX; daughter Martha M. Vargas (and husband, Quintin) of Flower Mound, TX; seven grandsons, Belo N. Kellam III(and wife,Mindy) of Corning,NY, Donald T. Kellam of Edmond, OK, Abel T. Kellam of Bonney Park, WA, Brandon F. Kellam of Naples, FL, James N. Kellam of Lebanon, MO, Robert L. Kellam (and wife, Denise) of Lansing, KS, and Jerome M. Simon, Jr.(Jay) of San Antonio, TX; two granddaughters, Jessica L. Mock (and husband, Jeff) of San Antonio, TX and Ashley L. Kellam of Naples, FL; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee Kellam and Joseph Kellam of Lansing, KS, Brianna F. Kellam of Springfield, MO, Alex Kellam of Bakersville, CA, Elle Kellam of Edmond, OK and Kennedy, Kellam of Corning, NY.
No local services will be held, and a memorial to her life and graveside service will be held in Robstown, TX at the Robstown Cemetery at a later date.
The family wishes to thank her doctors, Dr. Robert Holder, Dr. Brahish Bhatla, Dr. Charles Mild and Dr. Farley Neasman for their continuing care during her illnesses. They also want to thank the staff at Canterbury Court Assisted Living for their care during her residence there.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make donations can send them to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or the charity of their choice in Wanda’s name.
