Waite W. Goad

May 9, 1922 — January 24, 2015

SAN BENITO, TX:
Waite Winston Goad, 92, of San Benito, Texas went to be with our Lord Saturday, January 24, 2015. He has joined his wife, Lois Simpson Goad, in their eternal rest. Waite was born on May 9, 1922 to William Eli and Anna Goad in the oilfields of Oklahoma. His parents moved him and his siblings to Harlingen, Texas when he was 2 years old.
During his senior year in high school, he and his twin brother, Wade Weston, who predeceased Waite in 2009, answered the call to join the Army Air Corps and fight for their country. He was a member of what journalist Tom Brokaw called “The Greatest Generation,” men and women who lived during The Great Depression, fought in World War II, and came back to the United States to build it back to the great country it is today. He and his brother were waist gunners on the same B24 bomber, Liddle Butch. He completed 51 missions in the time he was stationed there. After returning from the war, he met and married his wife of 67 years, Lois Simpson Goad.  He was extremely proud of his service during World War II which was exemplified by the life he led after the war.
After several years of marriage, Waite and Lois purchased the farm and house that occupied the rest of their lives. When Waite wasn’t farming, he was volunteering his time with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2410 located in Harlingen. He was twice elected as Post Commander. Later in their lives, he and Lois enjoyed attending yearly Bomb Group 459 reunions where they could meet and reminisce with the men Waite served with on Liddle Butch.
Waite is survived by his brother, Cramer Goad, of North Richland Hills, Texas; his children, Gerald (Linda) Goad of Racine, Wisconsin, Marilyn Smith of Elko, Nevada, Chester Goad of Round Rock, Texas, Barbara Jackson of San Antonio, Texas, Shirley (Roger) Westhoff of Porter, Texas, Norman (Anne) Goad of Houston, Texas, and William (Sherilyn) Goad of San Benito, Texas; his grandchildren Renee (Israel) Casarez, Laura (Mark) Goadrich, Leighanne  (Dudley) Parker, Kirk Jackson, Brandon (Alma) Jackson, Katherine (Craig) Westhoff Larner, Matthew Westhoff, Shannon Goad, Rebecca Goad, Nicole Goad, and William Goad II;  and 11 great-grandchildren.
Waite was predeceased by his parents and his siblings; a sister who died in infancy, William Eli Goad, Jr., Ermer Allen, Connie Williams, and his twin, Wade Goad; his son-in-law, Bobby Jackson, and daughter-in-law, Marlene Goad.
Visitation hours will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 12 pm to 9 pm with the family present from 5 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 10 am at Mont Meta Mausoleum Chapel.
