Vivia Halbert, 64, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Washington, DC.
Vivia was born July 11, 1946 in Selma, CA to William Avery and Wilma Jean (Lovelady) Gilbert.  She attended the Baylor University from 1964 to 1967 and was employed with Judy’s Stitchery Nook of Harlingen, Texas. Vivia was a member of Rangerville Baptist Church, the Tip of Texas Embroiderer’s Guild of America, Frontera Quilt Guild, Inc., Fancy Stitchers, Wooly Bee, The Bag Ladies, and the Sassy Seamers. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, embroidery, creative sewing and traveling.
Vivia was preceded in death by her son, Nathan Brent Halbert.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Morris Halbert; children, Deana Halbert Everett and her husband Willie James, Stephen Halbert, Shirley Scarborough and Kevin Halbert; grandchildren, Stephen James Everett and Vivia Joeann Everett.  Vivia is also survived by her brother, Geary Gilbert and his wife Betty; nephews William Gilbert and John Gilbert; and grand-nephew, Kyle Gilbert.
A celebration of Vivia’s life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011, 10 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, 1815 N. 7th St., Harlingen, TX with Rev. David Mann and Dennis Moody officiating.
