Virginia Nell Oakes, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, following a brief illness. Virginia was born on November 25, 1949, in Harlingen, Texas to Virgil and Nellie Sharp. A lifelong resident of Harlingen and a proud alumna of Harlingen High School, she dedicated over 29 years of her career to Tommy Graham Auto Body in her hometown and was an esteemed member of the VFW #2410. Virginia's compassionate nature shone through as she always extended a helping hand to friends in need. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, John (Birdie) English, residing in San Antonio, Texas; her brother Virgil (Glenda) Sharp of San Antonio; as well as her beloved grandchildren Carter, Jenna, and Addison English, also from San Antonio. Virginia also leaves behind several nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.

Virginia was preceded in death by her father Virgil Sharp and mother Nellie Toal Anderson.

Visitation hours will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Harlingen-Combes Memorial Park.
