Victor M. Perez

Victor Martinez Perez of Richmond, Texas, was born on July 28, 1930, to Jose Perez and Piedad Martinez of San Benito, Texas. Early Saturday morning, on March 15, 2025, Victor peacefully went to be with the Lord, at the age of 94.

Victor was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Aurora S. Gonzalez, of Harlingen, Texas. Victor was the oldest of his seven siblings and is survived by his brothers: Jesus Perez of San Benito, Jose Perez of Weatherford, Texas, and Alicia Chavez of San Benito.

He and his wife had four children: Nelda Perez, Victor Perez Jr., Anna Lee Allen, and Daniel G. Perez. His family extended to include the blessing of five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He had many nieces and nephews.

Victor grew up as the oldest son to a family of little means. Beginning at a young age, he helped his mother and father raise his seven siblings, helped with farm duties in growing and picking crops, and driving tractors to prepare the fields.

After marriage, he and his wife settled in Brownsville, Texas to raise their family. He owned a small independent auto repair shop where he met new friends and neighbors. He enjoyed sharing the Good News about Christ to anyone who would listen. He was a man of honesty and integrity, willing to help a stranger or a neighbor in any way he could.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking his boat out to the Arroyo and the South Texas Bay, hoping to catch his favorite: Redfish. He also had an interest in repairing Jeeps and owned a variety of them over the years.

He died in his own home, in the care of his two daughters, knowing the Lord was preparing a place for him in Heaven.

The Perez family will receive friends and family on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Following the service Victor will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
