Vernon E. Clausen
March 17, 1934 — June 23, 2017
Vernon Eugene "Papa" Clausen left this world June 23, 2017 at home to be with his Lord.
He was born March 17, 1934 in Clinton, Iowa to Rebecca M. Piper Clausen and Gerhardt C. Clausen who preceded him in death. He married Margaret Annelle "Granny" Clausen December 28, 1952 who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Michael Eugene Clausen.
He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force April 7, 1956 and retired from Central Power and Light April 1, 1990.
He is survived by his sister, Fern Clausen Schubert; his brother, Tom Clausen; his son Bruce Eugene Clausen (Tamra) of Corpus Christi, Texas and his daughter Amylou Myra Clausen Foale (Mike) of Harlingen, Texas. He is survived by seven beautiful grandchildren that he adored: Eric Lee Clausen (Shelley) of Johnson City, Texas, Andrew Scott Clausen (Laura) of Harlingen, Texas, Chrystal Myra Foale (Eric Lee) and two great grandchildren Kaylee Michelle Foale and Eric Michael Foale of Harlingen, Texas, Brandi Lynn Clausen Oberbeck (Jeff) of Stockdale, Texas, Sarah Jannette Foale Zellner (Brandon) and two great grandchildren Annabell Jannette Zellner and Wyatt Joseph Zellner of Spring Branch, Texas, Kelly Louise Foale of Harlingen, Texas and Lauren Alexis Foale of Kingsville, Texas.
There will be a memorial service June 30, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of their choice.
