Tsuyu (Sue) Oyama passed away peacefully on February 10, 2017 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Sigenore, Sr., and her daughters, Trudy (Francis) Ogawa, Charlotte Azwell and Cheryl Oyama. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Sigenore Oyama, Jr., her grandson, Rusty Sheetz, and her granddaughter, Tanya Sheetz.
She was a teacher for 31 years; 27 of those years were at Frank Roberts Elementary School.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 710 Ed Carey Dr., Harlingen, Texas. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Visitation will be Feb. 17 from 12 pm to 7 pm with the family present from 5 pm to 7 pm at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Todd Ogawa, Chris Azwell, Howard Okabayashi, Harry Okabayashi, Lonny Onishi and Jimmy Morrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Lyndon Jones, Terry Myers, and Ruben de La Roza.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shridhar Kotta, the staff at Valley View Assisted Living and the doctors and nurses at Valley Baptist Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care.
