Torrence Jay "TJ" Faver

September 27, 1970 — March 3, 2022

Torrence Jay Faver, better known as TJ, gained his wings on March 3, 2022.  He was born to the late Richard and Sue Ann Russell Faver on September 27, 1970 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

TJ was a graduate of W. B. Ray High School and was a member of Parkdale Baptist Church while he lived in Corpus Christi.  After graduating high school, he attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music.

He was a professional educator with Brownsville ISD and Donna ISD. He was also involved in the theater arts and served on the Board of Directors of Harlingen Community Theater where he directed many plays, acted, and sang. TJ also enjoyed working for Rio Grande Valley Art Studio where he taught voice and piano. In the mornings, he also worked for Home Health Solutions as a home health provider.

TJ was a committed member of Treasure Hills Presbyterian church where he served as an elder, choir director, and Vacation Bible School director.

TJ was preceded in death by his parent, Richard and Sue Ann R. Faver, and his sisters, Tania Faver and Pattie Seaton. Left to treasure his memory are his brothers, Tommy (Terri) Faver and Rick (Dana) Faver; two nephews and three nieces; several great nieces, and one great nephew. TJ also leaves behind his family in Harlingen - Frank Andrade, Salvador, Vicky, and Delia Andrade, and the two children that brought much joy to his life, Mia and Arturo Vela.

TJ had a wonderful, almost angelic, voice; he frequently sang in church, at funerals, and in shows.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate TJ’s life on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church, 2120 N. Ed Carey Drive in Harlingen.  All those who attend the service are encouraged to wear blue, TJ’s favorite color.  To view a live-stream of the celebration service, go to https://www.facebook.com/treasure.church

Following the service, TJ’s ashes will be placed at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, 14166 US Business 83 in La Feria. After the inurnment ceremony, a memorial reception will take place in the fellowship hall of Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church.

While floral tributes will be received at the church the day of the service, it was TJ’s wish that donations be made to Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church or to cancer research.
