Tommy T. Carruth

PORT ISABEL, TX.–
Tommy Turner Carruth was born in Quanah, Texas on February 17, 1928 to Thomas Perkins and Myra Turner Perkins and passed away on January 7, 2014. He moved to Harlingen in 1936 to live with his mother and stepfather, Myra and Paul Carruth.
Tommy Turner graduated from Harlingen High School in 1946. He was captain of the football team and was “All Valley” and “All South Texas”. He attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a degree in Architecture. After serving four years in the United States Navy he practiced Architecture in Harlingen.
He and Wanda were married at Port Isabel, aboard the Wine and Roses in 1993. They lived in Harlingen and later moved to live in Port Isabel where they have resided for the past 6 years.
He is survived by his wife Wanda, his sister Paula Croxton, and three of his four children, Myra Millsapps (Jerry), Tommy Turner Carruth Jr. (Dagmar) and Alice Donahue (Sam Belue). His son Paul Carruth II preceded him in death in 1959.
A memorial will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church, Port Isabel.
