Thomas Lee Bryant, 84, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at his residence.
Thomas was born August 4, 1927 in Amarillo, Texas to Jack and Elsie McDaniel Bryant.  He graduated from Harlingen High School and earned his Eagle Scout and was a Scout Master for Troops 10 and 50. Thomas served as a Seaman in U.S. Coast Guard and in the Army Airborne Regiment and was discharged in 1947.  He was employed by Boggus Motor Co. in several capacities and was self-employed in construction. He was also employed for several years as a Rural Letter Carrier and retired in 1995. Tom enjoyed importing parrots from Mexico, Central American and South American.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Burton; son, Thomas Dean Bryant; his parents; step-mother, Lillian Bryant; brothers, Jack Bryant, Joe Scott Bryant; and sisters, Catherine Chambers and Charlotte Baker.
Tom is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Rabe Bryant of San Benito; sons, Gregory Lee Bryant (Regina) of Edna, TX, Warren Bryant (Griselda) of Harlingen and Nan Long (Eddie) of Harlingen; grandchildren, Dawn Bryant of Houston, TX, Lisa Bryant Dreslinski of Austin, Laura Burton Stevens of Cleveland, TX, Carrie Burton, Amanda Burton both of Houston, Travis Bryant, Carolyn Bryant both of Harlingen, Cortney Imel (Jeramy) of Seattle, WA; and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012, 11 a.m., at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Bryant, Joe Lee Bryant, Monty Bryant, Robert Bryant, Dale Johnson, Mike Johnson, and Jeffery Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Long and George Adams.
The family request memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
