Tommy Atkinson, Sr., age 60, passed away December 21, 2009.
He proudly served his county in the USAF during the Vietnam Conflict. Tommy was a dedicated peace officer with the Harlingen PD, South Padre Island PD and mostly recently the Fort Worth Marshall’s Office. He loved spending time with his family on the beach, camping, hunting and fishing with his sons. He will be missed by his family, friends and his “troops” as he called the police officers that worked for and with him.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father Tomas Atkinson.
He is survived by his sons, Tommy Atkinson, Jr. (Amber) serving in the USAF of Clovis, NM and Timmy Atkinson of Arlington; Tammy of Arlington, his ex wife and mother of his sons; Christine of San Benito, ex-wife and mother of his daughters, Debbie (Paul) Perez of San Antonio and LeeAnne (Greg) Cantu of San Antonio; granddaughters, Natalie Atkinson of Clovis, NM, Victoria and Rebecca Perez of San Antonio; grandsons, James and Daniel Perez of San Antonio; brother, Henry Atkinson of San Benito; and mother, Joyce Atkinson of San Benito. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial services will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 10 a.m.
