Sylvia Romero

Sylvia Romero, 57, passed away peacefully November 17, 2024, in San Benito, Texas.

She was born October 29, 1967, in San Benito, Texas to Jesus Romero and Maria Minerva Zepeda Ramirez Romero. Sylvia was a proud graduate of South Texas High School, class of 1987.

Sylvia found joy in various activities during her leisure time. She had a passion for watching football and wrestling, enjoyed music videos, and listened to a wide array of music. Sylvia also cherished writing in her journals, watching her favorite movie, "Grease," as well as bowling, playing air hockey, and spending time with her beloved great-nieces and great-nephews. She delighted in driving to the Island and dining out.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Romero and Maria Minerva Zepeda Ramirez Romero, as well as her brothers, Jesus “Jesse” Romero Jr., Oscar Romero, and Cesar Romero.

Sylvia is survived by her sisters, Maria Mendoza (Quirino Jr.), Leticia Del Valle (Sostence), Martha Simental (Jaime), and her brothers, Luis Romero (Nelda) and Dimas Romero. She also leaves behind her aunt, Dora Rodriguez, and numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Jasmine and the nursing staff at Harbor Hospice for their compassionate care.

The Romero family will receive friends and family on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 PM Thursday evening. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial at San Benito Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Angel Romero, Guadalupe Esparza Jr., Jorge Morales, Jeremiah Osorio, Quirino Mendoza III, and Christian Rey Lopez. Honorary pallbearers will be Perla Mendoza Osorio, Julie Lopez and Quirino Mendoza Jr.
