Sydney L. Garrett, 93, of Victoria passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015.
She was born March 25, 1921, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Thomas and Ruby Ford Herkimer. Sydney spent most of her life in Harlingen, but had resided in Victoria the last 28 years. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word. She took pride in caring for her family, preparing delicious meals and sewing beautiful garments. She was the sweetest Mom in the world who had a smile that put everyone at ease and made them feel like family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Floyd W. Garrett, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Lillian, Alabama; her daughter, Cheryl Wallace of Victoria; grandsons, Bryan Wyatt (Wendy), Patrick Wallace (Noelle), Seth Garrett and Tim Mayer; granddaughters, Erin Garrett and Jessica Dionisio; and great-granddaughter, Harper Wyatt.
A visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen Friday, January 16, 2015, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 11:00 am at Combes Cemetery.
