Susana M. Resendez

Susana M. Resendez peacefully passed away May 15, 2023 at the age of eighty-one. She was born May 24, 1941 to the late Filiberto Moran and Guadalupe Bocanegra in Rangerville, Texas

Susana served in the medical profession for nearly thirty years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Before her retirement, the medical facilities where she worked included Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital, the Texas State Chest Hospital, San Benito Medical Associates, and Retama Manor.

In her leisure time, Susana enjoyed knitting, playing lotería, and slot machines.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melitón G. Resendez; grandson, Fernando Serrato; father, Filiberto Moran; mother, Guadalupe Bocanegra Serrato; and brother, José Moran.

Left to treasure Susana’s memory are her children, José Santos (Olga Mejia) Serrato, Terry (Paul) Bell, Mauricio G. Resendez, Milton G. (Melissa G.) Resendez, Xavier Resendez, Jacqueline Suzanne Resendez; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Julia Garcia, Juana Susana Torres, Clemente Serrato, and Dolores Flores.

The family will receive relatives and Friends on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Las Rucias Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Milton G. Resendez, Xavier Resendez, Mauricio Resendez Jr., Rudolfo Flores Jr., Julian Gonzalez, and Ely Garcia. José Santos Serrato, Adrian Valdez, and Randall Boutcher will serve as honorary pallbearers.
