Simon Garcia

Simon M. Garcia, 66, passed peacefully from this life at his home.  He was born in Mexico on October 8, 1951 to Guadalupe Garcia Cantu and Maria Ofelia Mungia Amaro.  Before his retirement, Simon was employed as a salesman.  He enjoyed reading and was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito, where he previously served as a lector.

Simon was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Garcia Cantu and Maria Ofelia Mungia Amaro; brother, Agapito Garcia; grandchildren, Ailyn Balboa, and Jimena Milagros Balboa.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Maria Santos R. Garcia; children, Ana Laura (Juan G.) Balboa, Kristal Selen (Ricardo) Lopez, Gabriela Garcia, Orlando Garcia; grandchildren, Viviana Ochoa, Emiliano Ochoa, Juan Azael Balboa; sisters, Emilia Garcia, Noelia Garcia, Fabiola Garcia, Irma Garcia, Maria Santos Garcia, Josefa Garcia; brothers, Jorge Garcia, Jose Guadalupe Garcia, and Ricardo Garcia.

Simon’s family will be receiving friends and relatives at San Benito Funeral Home on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 3:00-9:00 PM and Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 2:00-9:00 PM.  There will be a recitation of the Holy Rosary on Sunday at 7:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church.  Simon will be laid to rest at Buena Vista Burial Park in Brownsville following the funeral mass.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Orlando Garcia, Ricardo Lopez, Juan Balboa, Cristian Cantu, Dorian Cantu, and Jorge Garcia.
