Shirley Jean Wells

Shirley J. Wells, aged 89, passed away on May 12,2024. She was born in Rule, Texas, and received her education in Brownfield and Tuscole, Texas. Shirley began her professional journey at GTE Phone Company and later concluded her career at Southwestern Bell Phone Company. Beyond her professional endeavors, she found joy in painting, bowling, sewing, and crocheting fancy designs with her sewing machines.

Survived by her daughters Regina (Doyle Shipp), Linda Bayard, son Carl Wells (Lisa), as well as nieces Linda (Bill Riley), Becky Breshers, and Kathy Hudnall; Shirley is also remembered by 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 6 great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her cherished husband Darrell Loy Wells, parents AJ Rock and Thelma Rock, sister Darlene Lasiter, sons John and Bill Wells, grandson Darrell Wayne Shipp, and granddaughter Melissa Wells.

A visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with graveside services following at the Mont Meta Memorial Park Mausoleum at 2:00 PM.  Honored to serve as pallbearers are Doyle Shipp, Carl Wells, Dylan Wells, Darrell Bennett, Adrian Bennett, and Bill Riley.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Rio Grande Valley Humane Society at 2729 North Expressway 77 in Harlingen, Texas.
