Shirley A. Carlson, 81, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Retama Manor in Harlingen.
Shirley was born April 17, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Earl and Abby Woodruff. She attended Humbolt High School in St. Paul, Minnesota and was an elementary school substitute teacher and a kitchen worker and a department store controller. Shirley helped raise four sons and led them to the Lord Jesus. She was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed reading her Bible, singing in Church Choir and baking.
Shirley is survived by her husband Douglas A. Carlson; sons, Steven D. (Diane) Carlson of Harlingen, TX, Dale L. (Lonnie) Carlson of Murrieta, CA and Nathan P. (Teresita) Carlson of Culver City, CA; grandchildren, Matthew (Janna) Carlson, Sara Carlson (Steven) Coryell and Peter J. Carlson; and great grandchild, Oliver Scott Coryell.
She was preceded in death by her son Mark W. Carlson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2011, 10 a.m., at Combes Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Wiest officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
