Sharon Kay Owensby, 66, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Sharon was born on September 16, 1947 in Plainville, KS to Bernice (Snyder) and Allen Rice. She grew up in the Plainville area and lived in many other states at one time. She also was a licensed cosmetologist and then worked with elementary schools for many years.
Sharon was a former resident of Lexington, KY and moved to Harlingen 2 years ago where she made home at the Camelot Retirement Village. She loved cooking, gardening, writing, drawing, sewing and other artwork.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Edward Owensby of Harlingen, TX; daughter, Tracey Owensby Carbajal and son-in-law, Junior Carbajal of Harlingen; step-daughter, Denise West and family of Altus, AR; sister, Gloria Boudreau; niece, Adrian Davis; nephew, Davy Boudreau. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert Joseph and Michael Allen Rice.
Visitation hours will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 5:30 PM, Monday, March 10, 2014 with the Rev. Joe Jaime officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
