Sharon Kay Cole, 70, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen.
Sharon was born October 8, 1939 in Oelwein, Iowa to Dale and Ruth Wolfe. She graduated from Oelwein Community High School and married Kenneth B. Cole on December 6, 1968. Together they owned and operated Oelwein Specialty Company. Sharon was a member of the First United Methodist Church in San Bentio, Texas and was an avid race car fan of NASCAR. She enjoyed fishing, visiting with family, friends and selling her customers more than anticipated.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Ruth Wolfe; infant son, James Merritt Jr.; and her husband, Kenneth B. Cole.
She is survived by her faithful companions Tricksey and Roman; son, Mark Merritt; step-daughters, Robin Rendon, Tracy (Pete) Buitron and Dawn (Glen) Haak; sisters, Lois Suckow and Diane Shatto; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family greeting guest from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 21, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
