Sergio Alexander Lopez, 24 yrs. old, was born February 6, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away peacefully at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen, Texas on June 26, 2014. Sergio was a gifted musician who inspired many young people with his music. He was an actor appearing in plays such as Cat On a Hot Tin Roof and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. At the time of his death, he was a music instructor to children in piano and guitar. He was passionate and creative in making his own music tracks while using his own words. He played various instruments oftentimes self-taught such as the guitar, keyboards, piano, Cello. He learned to play the bagpipes which he played at a friend’s wedding and played throughout Harlingen North High School. There’s a saying that goes: You don’t know what you have lost until it’s gone. This is exemplified by reading everyone’s tributes to this beautiful young man on Facebook and Twitter, aka Sergio Leone. He was known throughout the Valley as an extremely talented musician and was recognized for his mechanical engineering studies at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He had two bands Vatican Beach and Christ Hair which he was so proud of and played all throughout the Valley. Sergio, we will always love you, and cherish our times and memories together. Most of all we are thankful for the gift of having you in our lives that God gave us for such a short time.
OUT OF THIS LIFE
Out of this life I shall never take
Things of silver and gold I make.
All that I cherish and hoard away
After I leave, on earth must stay.
Though I have toiled for a painting rare
To hang on my wall, I must leave it there.
Though I call it mine and boast its worth,
I must give it up when I quit the earth.
All that I gather and all that I keep
I must leave behind when I fall asleep.
And I wonder often, just what
I shall own
In that other life, when I pass alone.
What shall He find and what shall He see
In the soul that answers the call for me?
Shall he find and what He finds and what
Shall he see
In the soul that answers the call for me?
Shall the great Judge learn,
When my task is through,
That my soul had gathered some riches, too?
Or shall at the last, it be mine to find,
That all I had worked for I’d left behind?
