Seferino S. Rodriguez

Seferino S. Rodriguez, of Rio Hondo, Texas, peacefully passed on April 17, 2023 at seventy-eight years of age. He was born July 6, 1944 in Rio Hondo to Clemente Rodriguez and Romana Salinas Rodriguez.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Sempre Fi to our Brothers in Arms.

Seferino retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of dedicated service.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Seferino is preceded in death by his parents Clemente Rodriguez and Romana Salinas Rodriguez and siblings Roberto Rodriguez, Roman Rodriguez, Magdalena Herrera Rodriguez, Jose Maria Rodriguez, Eduardo Rodriguez, Clemente Rodriguez Jr., and Pablo Rodriguez

Left to treasure Seferino’s memory and honor his legacy is his wife, Matilde Rodriguez; his children, Mark (Brenda) Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez and Victor (Sonia) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Redwin Rodriguez, Mathew Rodriguez, Julissa Torres, Jonathan Rodriguez, Amor Sosa, Derrian Rodriguez, Hunter Rodriguez, Maximilliano Espinosa, and Maddox Espinosa. He is also survived by his siblings Guadalupe Rodriguez, Manuel Rodriguez, Maria Rodriguez, and Robert Rodriguez.

The Rodriguez family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Sunday evening. A Communion Service will be celebrated Monday, April 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Following the service, Seferino will be laid to rest at Anaquitas Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the American Vietnam Veterans Chapter One Honor Guard.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Redwin Rodriguez, Mathew Rodriguez, Jonathan Rodriguez, Michael Espinosa, Carlos Garcia Jr., Federico F. Ortega, Derrian Rodriguez, and John Bruno Ortega. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Villanueva, Orlando Robles, Hunter Rodriguez, Manuel (Piris) Sandoval, Joe Rodriguez, Rene Ortega, Terry Tostado, Richard Marin, and Mark D. Garza.
