Santiago “Jimmy” Cortez, Jr., 36, entered into rest on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at his residence in San Antonio.
Jimmy was born on November 29, 1972 in San Benito, Texas to Santiago M. Cortez and Olga Villafranca Cortez. He was employed with Sergio’s Hair Salon for 4 years and had been a hairdresser since the age 15. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jose Villafranca Garcia and Carlota Trevino de Villafranca and Gilberto Cortez and Juanita Cannady de Cortez.
Jimmy is survived by his mother, Olga Cortez of San Antonio; sisters, Darlene Cortez de Vega and Denise Cortez; father, Santiago M. Cortez; two nephews and one niece; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
The funeral procession will depart Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Catholic Funeral Service at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Deacon Jesus Reyes as celebrant. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
Pallbearers will be John Ramirez, Darlene Cortez de Vega, Denise Cortez, Arturo Juarez, Jr., Sonia Castillo and Diana Gonzalez de Durlam. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Ramirez, Linda Ramirez, Sylvia Leal, Odette Juarez de Trevino, Javier Gonzalez, Eva Villafranca de Galindo and Joseph Villafranca.
