San Jose, TX: Samuel Saldivar, 83, born February 1, 1928 in San Jose, TX to Gabriel Saldivar and Maria Ramos, left us to be with the Lord on June 1, 2011.
He was a father to ten, grandpa to 24 and a great grandpa to 13; his legacy as a soldier; Hall of Fame HEB truck driver and not least of all a Cowboy. Saldivar will forever be imprinted upon the lives of many.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Maria Dora Balli; and a son-in-law, Carlos R. De La Fuente, Sr.; his sister, Lucia (+Manuel); and his brother, Rafael (+Jesusa).
Samuel is survived by his children, Sylvia K. Saldivar, Nora (Fred) Hooker, Samuel Jr. (Norma), Joel, Omar (Susana), Javier (Maribel), Lisa, Mary (Roger) Parker, Eloy (Josefina), and Obed (Sara); his siblings, Juan (+Felicita), Bernardo (Lucila), Minerva (Fred) Pacheco, Oswaldo (Eva), Amanda (+Santos) De La Rosa, Ernestina (Heriberto) Amaya, Jose (Jimmie) and Dolores (Joel) Trevino.
In life he was known as Grandpa, Grand pow pow pow, Grandpa Pinchioni, Tio Feo, and Rawhide; Saldivar left us with the example of seeing humor to heal all and humor in all adversity. He and his legacy will never be forgotten. We will miss you always, daddy, grandpa, and brother.
Funeral Mass will be held today, Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Pallbearers will be Eloy Saldivar, Obed Saldivar, Michael Parker, Carlos R. De La Fuente, Jr., David Saldivar, Isaac Saldivar; honorary pallbearer will be SPC Josejulian Guzman and Omar Saldivar.
