Samuel “Sambo” Cutter Carter, III

Samuel “Sambo” Cutter Carter, III, 71, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2015 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Samuel was born on January 17, 1944 in Boston, MA to Dr. Samuel C. Carter, Jr. and Eva Meador Carter. He attended the Rhodes University in Memphis, graduated from Texas A & I University in Kingsville, TX with a degree in Wild Life Biology and later taught school in the Harlingen Independent School District and the Marine Military Academy also in Harlingen,
Samuel was married to Kristine Henggeler from 1972 till 1991.
He is survived by his daughter, Kendra K. Carter; sisters, Isabelle “Cissy” Carter Rotter Duane and her husband, Pat Duane, and Elizabeth “Beth” Carter Cantini; nephews and nieces, David and Ann Rotter, Jenni and Victor Rabago, Russell and Jamie Cantini, and Ryan Cantini.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt, Isabelle Carter.
Samuel will be best remembered as someone who loved his Maker. His God was important to him as was the word of God. He also loved the outdoors which included hunting and fishing. Samuel also loved teaching and notably because of that he read the entire encyclopedia Britannica volumes.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with the family present.
