Ruth Virginia Porucznik (Waters)

Ruth was born in Raymondville, Texas on November 7, 1926 and passed away on June 13, 2020 away in Pflugerville, Texas, after a long illness.  She was the daughter of Luke David Waters and Henrietta King Waters (Durham).  She grew up in Harlingen, Texas with her family, the family loved going to the beach and visiting her grandfather George Durham and her uncles at the King Ranch where they were the foremen.

Ruth married Eugene Francis Porucznik on June 14, 1942.  Ruth devoted herself to being a housewife and a mother. She had three daughters Kathleen Ruth, Pamela Anne, and Rebecca Ellen.  She always loved children and always had the neighborhood children at her house.  Also, she took care of her two nieces while her children were little.  Her nieces were Beverly and Karen York.  Later, she took care of great niece, Stacy York and nephew, Clint York.

After the children were grown, she managed Robby and Lynn and Pat’s Shoe Box. She  worked at Bobby Marlow’s shop.  After retirement, she devoted her time to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter Rebecca Ellen, and siblings, Henrietta (Hank) Spears, Luke D. Waters, Jr, and Betty Jean Hennessee, brother-in-law James Hennessee, her sisters-in-law Eileen Carson and Helen Dulsky, and brother-in-law Joseph Porucznik,

She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Hoffman and her son Shane Hadlock (Melissa) and great grandchildren Alexander and Guiliana.  Pam Zukotynski (George) and her two granddaughters Megan Elane and Christine  Gayle,   She is survived by grandson Austin Pemelton (Kathryn) and great grandchildren Lilah Rebecca, Robin Marie, and James Austin.

A memorial service is scheduled for September 18, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1015 E. Van Buren Avenue, Harlingen, Texas.
