Ruth Simpson Phillips, 84, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011 at La Hacienda Healthcare.
Ruth was born September 20, 1926 in La Donia, Texas to Benjamin A. and Bessie B. Simpson. She graduated for Lyford High School with the class of 1945 and was employed with Harlingen State Chest Hospital as a Lab Technician for 30 years. Ruth grew up attending the Primitive Baptist Church of Lyford, TX and enjoyed plants, bird watching, flying an airplane and also riding motorcycles. She was a member of the Bromeliad Society.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin A. and Bessie Simpson; her husband, Clyde Walter “C.W.” Phillips; her sisters, Edith, Fern, Dorothy, Lucille; and her brother, Ira.
She is survived by her step-son, Gerald Phillips; step-daughter, Judy Phillips; and siblings, Lois (Waite) Goad and Lucian (Mildred) Simpson. Ruth is also survived by her many nieces and nephews which she adored.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, 1 p.m., at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito with Rev. Mark Coppins officiating.
