Ruth Norma Groves, 82, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010 at her residence in Harlingen.
Ruth was born April 5, 1928 in Quincy, IL to L.L. and Mary Harrison. She graduated from Quincy Notre Dame High School and then spent her time raising her family. She was a long time resident of Harlingen and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where she helped with social services.
Ruth is survived by her husband, George W. Groves, children, Mary (Robert) Snyder and children, Kara and Benjamin; John (Brenda) Groves and children, Charlie (Chelsea), Benjamin and Caroline; William (Susan) Groves and children, Jacob (Jennifer), Nicole and Kristian; Mark (Konnie) Groves and children, David (Pamela), Joshua (Lisa), Jennifer, Katherine, Sarah and Jessie; Nicholas (Pamela) Groves and children, Nicholas, Matthew and Tyler; Robert Groves and children, Natalie and John; Daniel (Debra) Groves and children, Andrew, Bethany and Kaitlyn; Patrick (Carrie) Groves and children, Alex and Jack; Christian (Jeanette) Groves and children, Jenna and Nathan and five great grandchildren, William Nathan Groves, Cassandra Elizabeth Groves, Aiden Harrison Groves, Katherine Nicole Groves and Gabriel Isaiah Groves..
Ruth was preceded in death by brothers, Norman Harrison and Howard Harrison and sisters, Mildred Kampling and Helen Brose.
Visitation hours will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary service being held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Monday, May 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Father Tom Pincelli officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family request that those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to St. Anthony Catholic School, 1015 E. Harrison, Harlingen, TX 78550.
