RIO HONDO, TX. – Rumaldo P. “Ray” Bustamante, age 57, of Rio Hondo, Texas passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014.
Rumaldo “Ray” was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 13, 1957. He graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1975 and enlisted into the military three days later. Ray attended Del Mar College as a non-traditional student and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in May 1989. In 1992, Ray moved his family to the Rio Grande Valley and settled his family in Rio Hondo, Texas.
Ray married Rose Marie Bustamante on May 8, 1976 and have been married for 38 years.
Ray enjoyed politics, photography, social networking, Photoshop, woodcraft, home projects, gardening, and spending time with his family, raza. He was actively involved in human advocacy, providing business support, and mentored friends.
His parents, Antonio and Guadalupe Bustamante, precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Bustamante; children Diana Jean, Rumaldo, Jr. (Sernae), Dolores, Debbie, and Desiree; grandson, Xander; brothers Antonio (Angelina), Daniel (Mary Alice), and Juan (Alicia); and sisters Rosario, Rachel (Joe), and Elena (Narcisso). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M. today, Thursday, December 4, 2014, with a recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for seven o’clock this evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 5, 2014 at two o’clock in the afternoon in St. Helen Catholic Church, Rio Hondo, to be officiated by Father Rigobert Poulang. Committal services will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
