Roumania M. Wenke

Roumania Marian Wenke “Sally” was born May 14, 1914 in Detroit, MI and passed away Jan. 10, 2017 at the age of 102.  She resided in La Feria for 68 years before moving to Harlingen.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband Carl Wenke, son William Smith, daughter Georgene KuyKendall, daughter-in-law Yvonne, son-in-law Howard Rawls, parents William and Augusta Hoffman, two sisters, and two brothers.
She is survived by son Karl, daughters Clara Rawls and Jimmie, Vivian Greek and Leroy, Geneva Wick and Mark, son Joseph Frank “Butch” and Katy, grandchildren Kathy, Sue, Linda, Carlotta, Eric, Trent, Leah, Sandy, Clay, Jeff, Jenifer, Wayland, Vonda, Veneé, Venise, Kevin, Kelly, Josh and Kimberly, 42 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Sally held numerous jobs through-out the valley but enjoyed cooking for the Rotary club in La Feria and making donuts for Paulson’s Drug Store, quilting, fishing and reading until Macular Degeneration hindered her eye sight.
A memorial graveside service will be held on January 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 State Hwy. 345, San Benito, TX.  The service will be officiated by Richard Williams, pastor of the Seven Day Adventist Church in Harlingen.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Sally’s name to American Macular Degeneration, Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Golden Palms Nursing Home and all their staff for the concern and love they gave our beloved Mother and the special attention APC Employees, Pearl, Dominga, and Maggie showed upon Sally.
