Rosamond Yvonne Barton

South Padre Island, TX:
Rosamond Yvonne Barton entered into God’s Kingdom on September 12, 2007 at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen Texas.
Rose was born September 17, 1922 to Louise and John Wade of Shawnee Mound, Missouri.  After graduating from Shawnee Mound High School as Valedictorian, she married her high school sweetheart, Leslie Barton, in January, 1941.  She lived in Kansas City, Mo; Merida, Mexico; Moline, Illinois; Grand Rapids, Michigan, Tipp City, Ohio and South Padre Island, Texas.   She worked as bookkeeper and partner in her husband’s business.   She was active in church life as a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, Ohio for over for forty years, serving as a Sunday school teacher and supporting Christian education.  In her final years, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Isabel, Texas
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Leslie Barton; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Betsy Barton of Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Alison and Casey Barton; sister Betty Lou Arwood of Clinton, Mo and many other friends and relatives.
Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit.
A visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 15 at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas with a private interment to be held at a later date.     A celebration to honor her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 22 at the First United Methodist Church in Port Isabel, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the America Lung Association.
