Rosalie (Rosie) Gerth, of Harlingen, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on July 11, 2020 at 9:50 p.m. at Harlingen Medical Center. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 19, 1943 to Anna Konas. On July 15, 1961, Rosie and John W. Gerth began their wonderful life’s journey together.
Rosie was very well known in East Troy, Wisconsin, a town in which she lived for many years. She retired from Giles Restaurant in East Troy after years of dedicated service. A dinner in Rosie’s honor was held in East Troy on April 4, 1990. In her retirement years, Rosie loved her Pogo games online. She was dearly loved by many people from Wisconsin to Texas.
Rosie was preceded in death by her brothers Mike and Clem.
Left to treasure Rosie’s memory are her loving husband of 59 years, John W. Gerth; her children Julie Gerth, Joyce Taplin, Jamie Gerth, John Gerth, and Jeff Gerth; her grandchildren, Tyler Laue, Travis Laue, Josh Halstead, Cassie Taplin, Nicholas Gerth, Brian Gerth, Stephen Gerth, Kevin Gerth, Jacob Gerth, Amanda Cook, Marlena Casanova, Rodolfo Zavala, Elizabeth Zavala, Lorenzo Zavala, and Ashley Bolton; and many wonderful great-grandchildren and more on the way. Rosie is also survived by her sisters, Joanne and Anna; brothers, Joe, Ted, and Hank; daughter-in-law, Rose Gerth; son-in-law, Gerry Taplin; and her cat, George.
The Gerth family wishes to thank Jessica, from Harlingen Medical Center ICU, for keeping their family informed along this journey. Jessica is a true blessing and an angel.
