Rosa Irma Nuñez Ruiz, 71, closed her eyes to this world and opened them to see the face of her Savior and Lord on February 3, 2021. She was born to the late Félix L. Nuñez and María Inés C. Nuñez on March 27, 1949 in Poblado Anáhuac, Tamaulipas, México.
Rosa was a graduate of San Benito High School, Class of 1970. She was a valued employee of Merced County Department of Child Support Services and the Merced County Family Law Facilitator where she worked as a legal clerk. Rosa retired after twenty years of dedicated service.
She was a committed Christian and a member of The Pentecostal Church of San Benito, Texas. Previously she was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle of Merced, California where she served in the Ladies Auxiliary and Benevolence Committee.
Rosa spent her leisure time enjoying time with her family, loved ones, and at church gatherings. She was known for preparing her famous homemade salsa. More than that, she was always known for her warm hugs and unconditional love.
Left to treasure Rosa’s memory is her husband and high school sweetheart, Manuel Ruiz; daughter, Amanda Ruiz Cornelio (Roman); son, Javier Ruiz (Nina); grandchildren, Benjamin, Leilani, Kelea, Kekoa, Nohealani, and Breanna, Isabella, Joshua; sisters, Ofelia N. Reyna, Mary I. Gonzales, Leticia N. Quiroga (Lou), Bertha N. Ybarra (Elías), Paulita Gonzales; sister-in-law, Gloria Nuñez (Harry); numerous loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and mother-in-law, Eulalia Garza (Daniel).
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Félix L. and María I. Nuñez; sister, Hilda Y. González; brother, Harry Nuñez; and father-in-law, Daniel Garza.
The Núñez family will receive friends and relatives at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7 o’clock on Tuesday evening. A graveside service and interment will take place Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veteran’s Cemetery, 2520 S. Inspiration Road, Mission, Texas.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Javier Ruiz, Marcos Gonzales, Jeffrey Nuñez, EJ Ybarra, Greg Rodríguez, and Cristian Rodríguez. Honorary pallbearers are Benjamin Fuller, Roman Cornelio, Kekoa Cornelio, Manny “JR” Reyna, Saul S. González, and Robert Eric Quiroga.
