Rosa Melgar Soriano

Rosa Melgar Soriano, 84, passed away at her home in Los Fresnos, Texas on July 8, 2020.  She was born January 8, 1936 in Mercedes De Ocotepeque, Honduras to Nazario Melgar Alcantara and Francisca Soriano Ochoa.

Rosa’s husband, Jose T. Alas, her children, Gladis Alas Melgar, Jose Tomas Alas, Jr., Mirian Alas Melgar, Javier Alas Melgar, grandson, Jose Saul Ramos Alas and her sister, Digna Emerita Melgar De Leon, preceded her in death.

Left to treasure Rosa’s memory are her children, Vilma Alas Melgar (Julio Cesar Moran), Sandra Alas Melgar (Ovidio Alas Guajardo), Melida Alas Melgar (Francisco Javier Rodriguez), Reina Digna Alas Melgar (Jose Benjamin Sabillon), and Marina Isabel Alas Melgar (Yovany Antonio Lanza); grandchildren, Linda Fany Ramos Alas, Osmond Javier Ramos Alas, Alma Rosa Ramos Alas, Olvin Fernando Ramos Alas, Mayra Yesenia Guardado Alas, William Ovidio Alas Alas, Karen Johana Arteaga, Felix Soe Arteaga Alas, Nancy Vanessa Alas Melgar, Diana Valessa Alas Lopez, Francisco Javier Rodriguez, Jr., Marlon Ulise Sabillon Alas, Roger Dario Sabillon Alas, Joselyn Fabiola Sabillon Alas, Jose Benjamin Sabillon Alas, Jr., Erick Geovany Lanza, Jose Giovany Lanza, Susan Janina Lanza, and Alex Lanza; forty-one great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Maria Melgar Mejia.

Visitation will take place on Monday, July 13, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  A Prayer Service will begin at 7 o’clock on Monday evening.  Visitation will continue at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 with a Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Erick Lanza, Jose Lanza, Alex Lanza, Francisco Rodriguez, Francisco Rodriguez, Jr., and Felix Arteaga.  Honorary pallbearers are Susan Janina Lanza, Karen Johana Arteaga, Nancy Vanessa Alas, Aura Karina Matute, Melida Rodriguez, and Janina Hernandez.
