Roberto R. Ortega

Roberto R. Ortega, 91, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 4:00 PM at Veranda Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Harlingen, Texas.  He was of the Catholic faith.

Roberto was born on Tuesday, June 7, 1927 to Guadalupe S. Ortega, Sr. and Santos Ramos Ortega in La Rancheria in Rio Hondo, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Andrea O. Juarez, Guadalupe (Chato) Ortega, Jr., Anita Ortega, Adela O. Tostado, Eleno Ortega, Sr., and Oralia O. Robles.

Roberto is survived by his children Lorena and Rene Ortega and grandchildren of Houston, TX; his siblings, Aurora O. (Ramon, Sr.+) Juarez, Marcelina O. (Marcelino) Marin, Dora Maria (J. Ricardo+) Gonzales, Celso R. (Malen) Ortega, Ofelia (Alfredo+) Torres, Matilde (Seferino) Rodriguez; numerous family, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Ortega family will be receiving friends and relatives on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Anaquitas Cemetery in Rio Hondo, TX with Fr. Andres (Andy) Gutierrez officiating.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Roberto’s nephews, Emilio Ortega, Federico (Freddy) Ortega, Michael Lucio Rodriguez, Joseph Victor Rodriguez, Ricardo Marin, Omar Juarez, Orlando Robles, and Ramon (YuYo) Juarez, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are his son, Rene Ortega, nephews, John Bruno Ortega, Mark Anthony Rodriguez, and Roberto Arturo Marin.

Roberto’s family wishes to thank United HealthCare Services of Harlingen, TX, Dr. Shridhar Kotta and staff, the nurses and staff of Veranda Rehabilitation and Healthcare, and Cima Hospice for the excellent care provided to our loved one.
