San Benito, TX: Roberto Caballero, 50, our beloved Uncle Bobby went to meet our Lord Jesus Christ at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen on Friday, May 20, 2011, with his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews at his bedside.
Uncle Bobby was a great man who touched many lives throughout his life with his kindness. His passion was politics; he was a great politiquero and many would seek his help in their campaigning. He was a diehard greyhound fan and known for never missing a greyhound home game and being their #1 fan. Robert was such a compassionate brother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Justo C. and Otila Caballero; his sisters, Maria Isabel Caballero and Virginia Caballero; his brothers, Jose Caballero, Reyes Caballero and Martin Caballero.
Roberto is survived by his sisters, Maria Alicia Nino, Graciela (Salvador) Ramirez and Olivia Padilla; his brothers, Ramon (Julia) Sanchez, Guadalupe (Alicia) Sanchez, and Ruben (Sylvia) Caballero; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Mayor Joe Hernandez, Valente Resendez, Ronnie Garcia, Victor Garza, Ruben Jaime Caballero and Ernesto Esparza.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Claudio and Joe Morales.
