Roberta Pearl Ridpath

October 28, 1930 — February 27, 2009

Roberta Pearl Ridpath went home to be with her lord on February 27, 2009.
She was born on October 28, 1930 in Harlingen to Earl and Vera White.  She attended Harlingen schools and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone with over 30 years service.  After retirement she worked as a successful real estate agent in Corpus Christ and in Harlingen.
Roberta and Calvin met while attending Harlingen High School.  They were married on September 9, 1949 in Harlingen.  They moved to Wichita, Kansas where they both worked for Boeing Aircraft.  After missing the Valley, they moved back to Harlingen where Roberta began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone.
Roberta is survived by her daughter, Diane Ridpath of Harlingen her son, Bruce and wife Gisele of Houston, sisters: Earline Harris and Doris (Bill) Westbrook, her brother Donald (Pat) White, all from Harlingen, her brother-in-law Bert Smith of Corpus Christi, grandchildren: Scott Payton, Steven Payton, and Christina Roach, and five great-grand children.  She is also survived by her life-long school friend, Frankie Morris Turner.
Roberta is preceded in death by her beloved husband Calvin Ridpath in 1978. Infant grandson Rusty Payton, her sister Janice Smith, parents Earl White and Vera Woods and step-father Arnold Woods.
Robbie, as her family and friends called her, loved the outdoors.  She loved fishing with Calvin, her only true love and she really enjoyed the time they had in their new boat.  She got great joy working in the garden and loved periwinkles.  She loved cooking and we would always kid her that she would cook enough for an army.  She found joy in being around her family and close friends.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Winter, Steven Payton, Bob White, Kenneth Smith, Austin Smith, and Martin Breuer.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Westbrook, Bert Smith, and Roy Winter.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in her name to your local Humane Society.
The family would like to thank the staff at Harlingen Nursing and Rehabilitation for their care of “Miss Roberta.”
