Robert Carl Wells “Bob” was 77 and living in Harlingen, TX when he died on Monday, December 11, 2017.
Bob was born in San Benito, TX on September 24, 1940 and is preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Erdice Wells, his brothers Jay Wells and Jerry Wells. Bob lived in the Rio Grande Valley his entire life. He attended Texas A&I College and was of the last graduating class before it became Texas A&I University. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture Education. Bob worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad for 20 years before retiring in 1989. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors with his buddies. Bob also liked to weld and work with anything metal. If he could see or draw it, he could build it. He was always out in his shop “piddling” with some project or another. He was always ready to help out anyone who stopped by to fix any farm equipment they had or lend a hand.
Bob served as a Director for the Valley Sportsman’s Club and always helped out with their BBQ suppers. He was President of the Sunset Lions Club where he helped collecting eye glasses for youth.
Bob loved flying and was a flight instructor in his younger years. He was able to go up again on his 70th birthday to his immense enjoyment.
Bob married and is survived by Janet Davis in 1961 and they had 56 wonderful years together. They had three children Kathy Wells Brown, husband Andrew Brown and grandson Jacob Brown. Patty Wells Berthot, husband Jeff and grandsons Braxton and Bryce Berthot. Robert Sean Wells and wife Danielle and granddaughters Emily Hamilton and Erin Wells.
The memorial service will be on Saturday, December 16th at 2 pm also at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 710 Ed Carey Dr., Harlingen.
